The action is timed to coincide with Ilya Yashin’s birthday - June 29, and the date of the arrest of the opposition politician - June 27, 2022. In December of the same year, Ilya was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison under an illegal article on “dissemination of knowingly false information about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.”

On Sunday 30.6, after a small action at 13:30 in the courtyard of the Lapinlahden Lähde center, at which we will read Ilya Yashin’s last address from prison, we will hold an evening of letters to political prisoners (in the premises of Osasto 5), where we will also watch a short film by Dmitry Kubasov “Witness”, in which Ilya Yashin goes to Pokrovsk colony No. 2 on one of Alexei Navalny’s ships, and on the way communicates with fellow travelers...

With our actions and events, we strive to attract public attention to the growth of illegal detentions in the Russian Federation and publicly support all political prisoners in Russia, as well as all people who, despite repression, the threat of fines, arrests and prison sentences, continue to resist the illegitimate in a totalitarian state government and fight for the future of our country.

Writing letters to political prisoners is one of the most important tasks, because it is a way of supporting the bravest people - those who do not give up and pay for it with their freedom and health.

The event will start at 13:30 in the courtyard of the Lapinlahden Lähde center (Lapinlahdenpolku 8, Ruoholahti district) and will continue from 14 to 17 on the evening of letters to political prisoners in the Osasto 5 premises.
