Remembrance and Resistance Action - "Heroes Don't Die"
1.3.2025, 13:00, Helsinki, Kansalaistori
10 years ago, on February 27, Boris Nemtsov was killed. On February 16 last year, Alexei Navalny was killed.
On March 1, nine years apart, the funerals of these brave and very dear people took place.
Galina Starovoitova. Anna Politkovskaya. Sergei Magnitsky. Natalia Estemirova. Vladislav Listyev. Alexander Litvinenko. Stanislav Markelov and Anastasia Baburova. Yuri Shchekochikhin. Sergei Yushenkov.
They were all killed by order of the Kremlin.
For decades, the Putin regime has been killing opponents, spreading propaganda of jingoism and anti-Western ideology, while simultaneously introducing agents of influence into Western countries and quickly accumulating money stolen from the Russian people in the West. For many years, agents of the Russian special services have been committing sabotage, crimes and murders on the territory of Western countries as well. These are facts that now, from the perspective of 2025, no one can or will deny.
2014. On Putin's orders, the occupation of Ukrainian territory takes place. Repressions intensify, opponents continue to be killed. But the rest of the world has not responded adequately.
For three years now, on the orders of the same Putin, a truly terrible, criminal, full-scale war has been raging on the territory of independent Ukraine. Tens of thousands of civilians have been killed. More than 7,000 Ukrainian prisoners are being held in torture conditions behind bars.
More than a thousand Russian political prisoners are languishing in Russian prisons today. But even there they do not give up, do not retreat from their convictions and continue to resist the regime. Some of them were tortured and died in prison, such as Sergei Magnitsky, Sergei Mokhnatkin, Pavel Kushnir..
On this day, we want to remember the fates of those who fought for the freedom of Russia, but became victims of this repressive machine. We also want to remind that we have no right to give up. And we will continue to fight - for the freedom of those people who resist the system, for a change of regime in Russia, for a different peaceful and democratic future.
Join the action of memory, solidarity and resistance on Saturday 1.3!
At 13:00 near the Oodi library.
Depending on the number of participants, a march to the Russian embassy is possible.
