On October 12 (Saturday) from 15:00 to 17:00, an event will be held in the Turku Central Library, where we will write letters to political prisoners in Russia together.

This summer, Ilya Yashin, Andrei Pivovarov and Vladimir Kara-Murza, who were released as a result of the exchange, told in interviews how important support through letters was to them. This is a simple but powerful gesture of solidarity that anyone can do.

According to the Memorial Human Rights Center, there are currently more than 600 political prisoners in Russia. Many of them are hardly reported on in the media, and most do not receive letters.

The event is organized by the democratic community of Russian-speaking people in Turku. We will prepare information about the prisoners, and you will be able to choose who to write to. We will send the finished letters to Russia. Bring postcards with you. It is planned that such meetings will be held monthly.
